WGG Update

My thoughts are bittersweet as I sit to write this month’s newsletter. On one hand, we’ve had an amazing year of golf with incredible weather and the course in its best shape ever; on the other hand the end of our season is near. Reality set in September 22nd when we had the Women’s Golf Group Fall Closer and Annual Meeting. It didn’t seem possible that we were wrapping up our competitive season already.
One of the highlights at our Annual meeting was the presentation of awards to our 2015 Champions.
Women’s Club Champion: Olivia Herrick
Women’s Club Champion, 1st Flight: Sandy Martin
Women’s Senior Club Champion: Kathleen Callahan
Women’s Senior Club Net Winner: Maggie Batten
Women’s Derby Champion: Barb Sawyer
Women’s Match Play Champion: Barb Sawyer
Women’s Match Play Champion 1st Flight: Sheri Henck
Women’s Doubles Match Play Champs: Abby Moffitt and Kathy Saterbak
Best Ball Champions (three way tie): Barb Countryman & Kathy Saterbak, Sue Ryan & Cathy Poechmann, Roxy Nelson & Kirsten Zell
Our new event, Dellwood Cup, also had a 3 way tie: Barb Countryman, Abby Moffitt, Sue Ryan
Most Improved Player: Connie Bossard

Congratulations ladies!

We had a couple exciting moments on the golf course this year; two of our players had a Hole-in-One! Judy Kishel made a Hole-in-One on Father’s Day, June 21st on the 3rd hole (now 12) with an 8 iron and Holly Struss made hers September 27th on the 16th hole with her 5 iron! WAY TO GO JUDY & HOLLY!!! (And thanks for the drinks!)

The gavel has been passed to our 2016 Officers and Directors. Our officers are: President, Connie Bossard; President-Elect, Lisa Channon; Treasurer, Maggie Batten; and Secretary, Kirsten Zell.
2015 was a year of growth and change at Dellwood. Change comes with challenges and rewards. The outstanding role played by our 2015 officers and board members during this period of adjustment was crucial to our continued success. I want to commend Sue Ryan for her exemplary two years of Leadership as our President. Sue you have gone above and beyond, and poured your heart into your commitment to this group. Thank you so much!

We have a couple of events left to play. Our 18 Hole Closer was rained out and has been rescheduled for October 14th, 9:00 AM shotgun with lunch to follow.
One of the most fun and entertaining ways we extend our season is with the coveted Halloween Glow Ball Event! This is an evening of fantastic costumes, food, and glow ball golf in the dark! The Glow Ball will be held October 29th, 6:00 PM. Be sure to sign up early as it always sells out!

Now, let’s hope for continued great weather and the ability to play right into November! The competitions may be over, but there are plenty of tee times left on the calendar!
